The Provost has asked the Libraries to describe in our strategic plan how we adhere to and promote high ethical standards. This may include operational issues and mission-based services and programs. How does the Libraries mission uniquely address integrity and ethical behavior in this research university and the world at large?

Sample issues

  • Academic integrity
  • Responsible conduct of research
  • Privacy and confidentiality
  • Accountability
  • Profession codes of ethics

Assignment:

Gather input and provide a 2-3 page response to the following questions:

  1. Define the terms “ethics and integrity” for the Libraries. Based on the Libraries unique mission, what does our commitment to integrity and ethical behavior mean, and how do we live up to that commitment? How do we support and promote integrity and ethical behavior through our programmatic work in Teaching & Learning; Discovery, Access, and Preservation; and Advancing Research?
  2. The Provost has asked us to respond to some specific questions pertaining to diversity in our strategic plan. Please refer to those instructions, and to the extent possible, outline how we might respond to these in our final strategic plan.
