Community Needs -> Great Opportunities

Out of the all learning outcomes that Rachel posted, I thought that number three plays the most important role in service organizations, and for this year, especially Habitat. Since we’ve been in a non-building period as of late, it has been community service projects have played an important role in keeping members active and attending meetings. Our Rent-A-Worker program is perfect example. It allows for us to interact with the community during our “off” months and allows us to build relationships with people that we normally would not come in contact with. Whether people need their leaves raked, furniture moved, or basic repairs completed, we can be their way of getting it done. It is also a great way for our members to get to know each other and interact outside of our usual meetings.
