“Ambition comes from both fear and love. Fear from possibly not being successful at something. Fear of doing something that we do not really want to do.”
How does your ambition to serve come from fear and love?
Service is something that we are passionate about, but we are afraid that this passion is not shared by everyone. If we do not do it, who will? This seems to be a fear that service leaders share. Also, what if we were one day placed in the situation of some population that we serve, how would we feel? There is always a fear of the unknown and what people think of us, and we think that this can be shared by all leaders.
Love is an important motivator for service leaders. We love the feeling that comes with helping others, and we receive the love from the people that we help. It is inspiring to feel this love- we are driven to be better service leaders. Service is not mandatory for us- loving others is the reason that we spend so much time giving to others. Love is all about the give and take- we want to take and grow from that love, but more importantly we want to give more than we take.
