Nolan Amos

It all started way back in middle school when I joined the Boy Scouts. I fell into the usual things our troop was doing as we raked cemeteries, helped out at the soup kitchen and collected food for the needy. I didn’t realize it back then but starting early really helped me have service ingrained into my life. Into high school I became the lodge chief of my local Order of the Arrow chapter and helped organize 2 weekends a year of service to our local council camps. The impact service had really hit me when I was a camp counselor at one of the camps. I saw children taking advantage of my efforts and enjoying the improvements we made on those weekends. I could help other people enjoy the spaces I grew to love and that feeling of helping them out was very satisfying. I continued this in college as I had heard about Alpha Phi Omega through my brother and by seeing them in my scout handbook. I decided to give it a try so I could help out my local community here at Penn State. I ended up loving it and have really found my niche at Penn State.
