Service Bio: Rebecca Davies

My name is Rebecca Davies, and I am the President of the Penn State Rotaract Club. I began doing service through my local Rotary Club when I was 8 years old. I assisted in Adopt-A-Highway road cleanups, chicken barbeque fundraisers, and blood screening events. Upon entering college, I immediately joined the Penn State Rotaract Club, which is the college branch of Rotary. My involvement in Rotary and Rotaract has inspired me to live by their joint motto, “Service above Self.”  Having attended a Catholic high school, community service was an underlying facet to my education, inspiring me to incorporate service into every aspect of my life. This has instilled in me a passion for service that has molded me into the individual I am today.

I serve because I believe service allows me to be the best person that I can be. Being able to give back to those who are less fortunate than me is the most humbling and meaningful thing that I can do. Service has taught me how to be selfless and how to appreciate what I have and not take anything for granted. Additionally, being engaged within my community deepens my appreciation for the place I call home, motivating me to treat everyone and everything with respect.
