Penn State is a campus of thousands and thousands of students. With a student body of that size, many people think it would be hard to find a place where you fit in. But that is absolutely untrue! Not only will you find your place on campus, you might even find a bunch of places where you can find your niche. There are over 800 clubs and organizations at Penn State – and counting!
With this many organizations it might seem kind of difficult to hear about all of them, but if you check out this directory it will lead you to a whole list of them. There are also involvement fairs every semester for clubs to get others engaged or for students to find just the club for them.
How could there be so many clubs?
Penn State is home to so many diverse students! There are clubs for art, swimming, computers, pottery making, knitting…you name it – we got it! And if we don’t already have a club dedicated to what you’re looking for, you can always start it yourself!
That’s what many students here do!
Some of the coolest clubs I’ve heard of on campus are the Dance Dance Revolution Club, the Club Kickball Team, Fly Fishing, the Harry Potter Club, and way more.
President of Club Kickball, Audrey, says “It’s super fun and everyone is invited to play. We don’t have tryouts or anything. It’s just show up to play and have fun!” They didn’t start until around 5 years ago, but since then they have been getting to play kickball every week! The club gets together twice a week for two hours and scrimmages each other or even other club sports like Club Tennis and Club Bass Fishing. They even made up their own version of kickball called Nittany ball! Besides that, they hang out and have fun just like any other club.
Are any of you future Nittany Lions looking forward to joining Club Kickball or another club? Or maybe even thinking about starting your own?! Let us know if you find any other cool clubs!
