We Are . . .

Student volunteer tour guides who are enthusiastic about Penn State, have a great passion for the University, and are interested in sharing our many wonderful experiences with others. The Undergraduate Admissions Office established this successful affiliate program in 1985. There are currently around 150 Lion Scout volunteers who assist the Admissions Office with recruitment efforts.

Community

Lion Scouts are active members of the Penn State community. Within Lion Scouts, members find a tight-knit community of passionate students united by their love for Penn State. Lion Scouts members also complete a minimum of 3 External Relations hours in which they can choose to give back to the Penn State community how ever they see fit.

Leadership

Members of Lion Scouts are presented with many leadership opportunities throughout their tenure in the organization. Leadership roles within Lion Scouts vary in personal and professional interest. Lion Scouts works in conjunction with the Undergraduate Admissions Office to offer employment opportunities for students as Tour Evaluators, “Life at State” Hosts and Welcome Desk Assistants.

Impact

Lion Scouts play a unique role in the college decision process for prospective students and families. Tour guides participate in a variety of visits, including prospective, transfer and accepted student tours. Our members work directly with the Undergraduate Admissions Office to plan and run all Spring Accepted Student Programs.
