Blair Witch Project
Hello, again!
I know many of you have seen this movie! The Blair Witch Project became a huge hit because it started the “based on a true story” documentary – esque film industry that exists now!
We all jump when its a movie about vampires, werewolves, and zombies…but what about a movie about real monsters?
That’s spooky.
PLOT
Beginning the movie with an introductory text that reads: “In October of 1994, three students filmmakers disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland while shooting a documentary. A year later their footage was found.”
With our cast: Heather, Michael, and Josh setting out to explore Maryland to find out the truth about the “myth” of the Blair Witch. The locals warn these students that they’re messing around in haunted territory (these students are pretty much asking to be haunted). The first tale is of a man named…
Rustin Parr: A hermit who kidnapped seven children in the 1940’s and brought them to his house in the woods to murder them. He forced them down into the basement and forced one to stand in the corner (as he heard the cries of the second being murdered) and then going back to murder the first child.
(Yes this is all very sick)
Rustin Parr was eventually executed, but he claimed that a witch that was hung back in the 18th century named Elly Kedward had essentially hypnotized him to do these grotesque murders.
Deciding that the murder of seven children is not enough of a reason to run back home, they venture on (Playing with dead witches doesn’t sound like fun, but okay).
As they’re in the woods, they encounter two fishermen who tell them that a girl named Robin Weaver went missing and returned three days later saying that she had met a woman “whose feet never touched the ground.”
^Oh, Robin.^
(At this point I’d already be home, but keep on trekkin’ you three)
As the expedition continues, they find themselves at Coffin Rock (appropriately named), where five men were found to be ritualistically murdered in the 19th century.
(RIP)
Father in the woods, they become uncertain where they are on their map. As they get worried, things begin to happen (only bad things happen in the deep forests of Maryland). They find themselves walking in circles and get extremely frustrated because they NOW realize how bad of a situation that this probably is (and not to mention it’s haunted because like 50 people pretty much died there).
In the midst of all of their confusion and anger (lets note that they’ve been out and about for one or two nights at this point), one of the trio THROWS the map into the river.
Instead of killing him (which should’ve probably happened), they continue going “south”, eventually believing that they’ll get out of the woods. With depleted resources, the nights prove to be pretty much demonic. They hear cackling at night, noises of children laughing, and at one point through the series of nights their tent is shaken.
While hauling a$$ out of their tent, Josh goes missing. Deciding that the best choice was to move on, they come back to their tent the following day to find Josh’s blood – soaked shirt left behind. Later that night (the seventh night), they hear Josh screaming in agony in the darkness. They follow the screams to a house abandoned in the woods and follow the screams to the basement. Mike and Heather run downstairs to find themselves struggling with an (unknown) force and the camera drops…
The End.
RATING
The movie sent waves. It made news because it started the whole “documentary” version of movies. It attracted large audiences because it said it was “based on a true story”. The fact that the movie didn’t have a concrete conclusion also left audiences to interpret themselves on what happened.
In my opinion, it was more of a thriller than a horror, but it definitely changed the game.
An A in my book!

Hahahah I love your reviews! Though, I’m always unsure whether I should watch the movies or not, because your reviews are too funny and I don’t want the actual movie to disappoint me!
