About a dozen Mont Alto Forest Technology students attended the Bartlett Tree Experts Plant Health Care Workshop that was held on campus this past Thursday, March 23rd. There was a very informative presentation on moving southern plant species north as changes in the climate make it easier for them to survive in the north. Other presentations included best practices for soil treatment, pest control, and the use of growth regulators.
It was great to see Mont Alto alumni doing presentations, too. Derek Furry, the Chambersburg Office Safety Coordinator, discussed safety procedures at Bartlett. And recent graduate Ryan Karroll, discussed the transition from college to work.
After lunch the students planted new pear trees at the Bartlett Tree Research Grove.
Thank you Bartlett, for inviting us to participate!
