Students from any major, academic standing and any PSU campus will have an opportunity to expand their understanding of the cultural and socio-economic diversity of India, the largest democracy in the world.
The program had two components: ASIA 197A and ASIA 199A – COURSE WAS COMPLETED FALL 2015/SPRING 2016
The students will conduct research and prepare for the opportunity to interact with and explore the land and its huge diversity of peoples. The students can customize their study based on their major or area(s) of interest in consultation with the instructor. Suggested focus areas include (but are not necessarily limited to) local customs, agriculture, culture, forestry, industry, economics, religions, history, food, education and healthcare.
We will conclude the research while on travel with visits to business enterprises, healthcare facilities, an eco-village, places of historical importance, and social and religious places. Opportunities for community service projects are available.
