2003 Women in Science & Engineering Research Participant
Current Position: Assistant Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley
As a freshman student at Penn State University, Rachel Slaybaugh quickly became enthused with engineering when she began her research in the Space Grant WISER program. Rachel was placed in a research lab in the Penn State Department of Nuclear Engineering and stated, “The Space Grant program allowed me to work at Penn State’s Research Reactor as a freshman. That experience is what caused me to become a nuclear engineer. This program basically put me on the beginning of my career path.” Rachel is now an Assistant Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley
