Penn State University’s School of International Affairs Review welcomes year-round submissions of articles and op-eds that are analytical, argumentative, advance policy, or empirical in nature and which are related to international affairs/relations.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS

Featured Article

  • Length: 750-1500 words (exceptions may be made for longer articles).
  • Citations: Chicago-style footnotes and in-text links.
  • Author’s biography: Please include a brief author’s bio of no more than 100 words.
  • Style: Must conform to academic writing standards.
  • Images: JPEG images relevant to your article must be attached along with a citation of the source from which it was obtained.

Op-Ed

  • Length: 500-1500 words.
  • Citations: Chicago-style footnotes and in-text links.
  • Author’s biography: Please include a brief author’s bio of no more than 100 words.
  • Style: Does not have to conform to traditional academic writing standards.
  • Images: JPEG images relevant to your article must be attached along with a citation of the source from which it was obtained.

International Perspective

  • Length: The equivalent of 700-1500 words in English (exceptions may be made for longer articles).
  • Citations: Chicago-style footnotes.
  • Author’s biography: No more than 300 words in English (it may also be written in the author’s native language).
  • Purpose: Must contribute to dialogue on international affairs (analytical, argumentative, policy, or empirical).
  • Style: Must be written in a language other than English. Must conform to academic writing standards.
  • Abstract: Must provide abstract of no more than 300 words in English (may also write one in native language).
