Spring 2016 Courses

Dear Communications Students,

The end of the semester is already on the horizon and that means it’s time to complete your 2016 Spring schedule. As you plan out your semester, we wanted to remind everyone that the Communications program is offering a number of interesting courses next semester including Intercultural Communication (CAS 271), the newspaper and radio practicums (COMM 001 & COMM 003), and three classes that are being taught for the first time on our campus:

  • Basic Video/Filmmaking (COMM 242)
  • The Nature of Media (COMM 251)
  • Communication Ethics (CAS 426W)

There are still plenty of seats available in most COMM and CAS courses but you should register soon to make sure you can take the ones that you want. As you weigh your options, please keep the following things in mind about the courses mentioned above:

  • COMM 242 and CAS 426W will both count for credit toward the completion of the B.A. Degree in Communications even though they are not included in the list of course options for the major. The courses will be substituted into your degree audits once the semester begins (and the professors will handle this for you).
  • Prof. Hepner has dropped the course prerequisite for COMM 242 so that anyone can enroll in the course regardless of whether they have already completed Cinema Art (COMM 150).

Finally, don’t forget to go over your spring schedule with your faculty advisor to make sure that you are registered for the right classes and making appropriate progress toward the completion of your degree.

Enjoy the upcoming Thanksgiving break and please be sure to check out the Communications website for important updates and loads of useful resources for both Communications majors and minors.

Best Regards,

Zack Furness
Communications Program Coordinator
