Rotaract Update 9/5/2016

Hey Rotaract!

I hope your three day weekend is going well!

We have a few events coming up that I wanted to make you aware of:

  1. No Meeting Tonight!
  2. Bowling
  3. Mt. Nittany Hike
  4. Picnic
1. Since it’s labor day, we are not having a meeting tonight! We will be meeting next Monday (9/12) at 7 PM  in 133 Food Science.

2. We are going bowling!! The local bowling alley, Northland Bowl always has $2 Tuesdays where games, shoes, and some of their food is only $2 each!! We are going tomorrow (9/6) and we will meet at 8:45 PM in the parking lot behind Osmond building. I’ll link a sign up below.

3. Next Sunday (9/11), we are going to do a trail cleanup at Mt. Nittany! It will be a lot of fun and lunch will be provided. More details on the exact time will be coming soon, but it will most likely be sometime in the morning.

4. After the hike at Mt. Nittany, we are going to be having a picnic on Old Main Lawn around 5 PM. Sabrina is going to bring her dog and if everyone coming could bring an item of food that would be awesome!

I’ve also attached last week’s PowerPoint from the meeting in case you couldn’t make it to the meeting.

That’s it for this week! Hope to see everyone at these events!!

Rotaract Weekly Update 2/22/2016

I hope everyone who went had a great weekend at THON! I can’t believe we raised almost $10 million!! FTK!
This week we have a few things coming up:
  1. Bracelet Sales
  2. Next Meeting
  3. State Day of Service
  4. Bowling
  5. Officer Positions
1. Bracelet Sales
We are having bracelet sales this Monday, February 22 and would love your help in selling them. We are going to be in the HUB from 10 am until 2 pm, so if you are free during those hours, please consider signing up on the sheet below. If you aren’t able to go, please tell your friends about them! The bracelets are really cool – they all have words in Swahili on them – and these donations go to Dream Sponsors Inc. to help the Kenyan orphans we are sponsoring

2. Next Meeting
Our next meeting is this Tuesday (2/23) in 209 Thomas at 6 pm. We would like to invite everyone to bring a friend to the meeting so they can see how great Rotaract is! We hope to see you there!

3. State Day of Service
State Day of Service is an entire day of community service (similar to FreshStart Day of Service) that aims to counteract the activities that occur during State Patty’s Day weekend. This is a great opportunity to show members of the local community that have lived and will continue to live here long after we graduate, that there are students that can be constructive, rather than destructive during State Patty’s weekend. If you’re interested in volunteering on this day, please go to volunteer.psu.edu to sign up! The day of service runs from 9 am-1 pm, and breakfast will be provided. Also, if you’re interested in being a service leader for a service site, please let us know so we can contact the event coordinators.
4. Bowling
We’re going bowling! The local bowling alley, Northland Bowl, has Two Dollar Tuesdays so everything after 9 pm is $2 (games, shoes, and food). We are planning to go on Tuesday, March 1 at 9 pm. We can meet in Osmond Parking Lot to drive over at 9. If you are interested, please sign up below.
5. Officer Positions
We are going to be electing new officers soon! If you think you’d be interested in becoming an officer for Rotaract, please reach out to us! We would love to give you more information about specific positions.
Thanks and I hope you have a great week!

Lastly, we wanted to thank our member, Sabrina, again for hosting us on Friday night. We had a lot of fun eating the pasta she made and playing Heads Up. The food was delicious!

Weekly Update

Hey everyone!

I hope you all have had a great first few weeks adjusting back into school mode!

This week we have a few things going on including:

  • First Meeting
    • Our first meeting is this Tuesday (1/26) in 209 Thomas at 6pm! We are going to present a brief overview of the semester and what we have planned. We are also going to be playing games so that we can get to know everyone a little bit better. And to top it all off, we are getting pizza!! So if you’re feeling hungry this Tuesday, come on out to 209 Thomas and find out who we are.

  • T-Shirts
    • This year’s t-shirts are in and they look great! If you haven’t picked yours up yet, we will have them at the meeting or you can email us at psurotaractclub@gmail.com. We also have a few extra if you haven’t purchased one yet and wanted to.

  • Trip to the retirement home Oaks
    • This Wednesday (1/27) we are going to a local retirement home called Oaks at Pleasant Gap. We always have a great time hanging with the residents there and they really appreciate us coming and talking with them. We aren’t sure what we will be doing yet, but we usually play board games or help them with any technology problems they have. We are planning on meeting in the parking lot behind Osmond Building at 6pm and arriving at the retirement home at 6:30pm. If you are interested in going, please sign up here.

Thanks and I hope you have a great week!

Upcoming Semester

Hey everyone!

This upcoming semester is going to be great! We have several events planned including the involvement fair which we will be working on Monday January 11. If you can help us promote our club, please email us at psurotaractclub@gmail.com. Thanks!

We are also having a fundraiser on Tuesday January 19th at Five Guys. So if you like burgers and fries, stop by between 5pm to 8pm! We’ll be there the entire time, so feel free to come say hi.

We are also planning on continuing our bracelet sales supporting Kenyan orphans and we’ll update you with more information when we decide on dates.

I hope you’re having a great break and see you in January!
