Fall Workshops

I’ll wait until the dust settles on committee scheduling, etc. before I carve these dates in stone…but just to keep your interest piqued, here’s what is tentatively on tap for fall. Please DO get in touch if you have other ideas, wishes, or want to present something yourself!

* Teaching as Performance – I attended a really great workshop at Lilly Conference by a professor at U. of MD College Park who has kindly agreed to come in early fall, so stay tuned!!! This should be something really different and interesting.

Leslie Felbain, is head of the MFA Performance program at the University of Maryland, College Park.  She led a very interesting session on how different aspects of performance – like being grounded, using articulation effectively, and being authentic – can improve classroom presence. I would like to encourage strong attendance, as this is something really interesting and special to which we might not normally have access. I’ll keep you posted.

* Round Robin Tech Lightening Rounds that I described for possible orientation activity – look for it in the fall – let me know if you are interested in presenting (7 minutes only!) – we can do a few or one big one, depending on the volunteers we get…

* Helping Students Become Lifelong Learners – some tips and tricks learned from our summer program

* Brown Bag Fridays (other day?)/Conversations in Teaching – Bring your lunch and join a general pedagogical discussion – what’s working/what’s not – once a month???? What topics do you want to tackle? Scholarship of Teaching & Learning? Assessment? Classroom Mgmt? Tech Integration? Student Engagement?  Course in College Teaching Alums/PT Fellows Meet and Greet? Want a different day?

Scholarship of Teaching & Learning Interest Sessions: Want to learn more about  (or advance a current) SoTL project leading to publication?  Get in touch with your interest. A fall interest group will begin soon!
