If you were to ask me right now to choose a location I wanted to travel to I would without a hesitation say GREECE! I would literally have my bags packed in a matter of minutes and be on my way. As some of you may have seen on TV or heard about, the whole Kardashian clan was in Greece not so long ago. I know what you’re thinking, is that why you want to go so badly? No! It just so happens that some of my favorite celebrities were also there and watching their vacation on their show made me want to visit that more badly. Also, who hasn’t seen the movie Mamma Mia??
So, why Greece? First off, let’s take a minute to observe the breathtaking scenery. I would not mind waking up to that view every morning.
We’ve also all heard of how poorly Greece’s economy has been doing (which is finally expected to start growing). Despite their economic factors, it seems as though Greece’s largest and major cities of Athens, Thessaloniki, and Patra attract tourists year round. Their food as well is a plus. The classic dishes of Greek salad and gyros have become popularized here in America. If you’ve ever had a gyro, what do you think? For those of you who haven’t, it is basically a pita/tortilla type bread filled with meat, dressing/sauce, tomatoes, onions, etc. If you’ve never tried it, I highly recommend one.
One last point about Greece is the ancient history it holds. From the Acropolis (ancient Greek civilization monuments housing the Parthenon) to Olympia (birthplace of the Olympic Games) to the Corinth (containing the ruins of the Temple of Apollo and the columns of the Temple of Octavia), the sites here are like no other.
Visiting Greece is definitely high on my bucket list, how about yours?
Greece is on the top of my list of places to see that I haven’t seen already. You do a really nice job highlighting it’s appeals!
The scenery in Greece is unbelievable. That alone would make it an interesting place to visit, but it is also a historical hub that once housed some of the world’s greatest philosophers and politicians. Traveling to Greece would be an extremely educational experience with a view. I think it’s interesting how movies and television shows get us more excited to do something like travel to Greece. Whenever I watch The Lord of the Rings, I always feel like going to New Zealand.
Greece would certainly be a very interesting trip to take. In addition to the great food you mentioned, there is a lot to learn about there as well. You would never be bored visiting all of the historical sites and seeing how the Great Recession has affected other countries would be interesting to see as well.
I have also always had a desire to visit Greece after seeing the second Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie in which they spend a summer in this breathtaking destination. In the movie and from pictures I’ve seen, it always looks so beautiful with the blue water and white hillside buildings. I think it would also be really interesting to visit all of the renowned historical sites in person, as well as learn more about the culture.
I would love to go to Greece as well, and I too watched those episodes where the Kardashians were in Greece and I was so so jealous. What first made me want to go there was seeing it on The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, I don’t know if you’ve seen the one where they go to Greece (the second or third one I think?) but it was a good one! People say pictures don’t do Greece justice, and if that’s true then I hope I get the chance to experience it for myself!
I love Greece! It is also on my list of places to visit. I got the idea of visiting from the movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I absolutely love the history as well. I would definitely visit if I could!
