Tears of joy as March Madness has come to a close. As expected we saw many Cinderella stories such as the surge of The Fighting Irish into the Elite 8 and a Georgia State team with a father-son connection that made many tear up as steped on the podium. This all lead up to a final four for the ages.
Kentucky-Wisconson
This game surprised many as the Wisconsin Badgers ended the Kentucky Wildcats prefect season and removing them from history books that most like myself sketch them in prematurely. The Badgers created a game plan that including continuously feeding there star player Frank Kaminsky as he shot 7-11 from the field leading to a 20 point game. However Kentucky’s true down fall was that for the first time all season they made mental mistakes such as a crucial step outbounds by Andrew Harrison that cause a 4 point swing putting Wisconsin up by 8 late in the second half.
Michigan State- Duke
Duke came into this game and clearly exerted its dominance on Michigan State. Causing Costellom Schilling, and Marvin Clark all to have early foul trouble. Leaving no one to guard Jahil Okafor in the post or when he played the pick in roll with Justice Winslow. Michigan State simply did not have the fire power to handle Dukes toughness.
Grand Finale Duke vs Wisconson.
Once again Duke and Wisconsin came in with a simple game plan that they had both used in previous games. Feed their big men for easy baskets or cause foul trouble. Early on Wisconson was very successful with that game plan as Kaminsky owned Jahill and kept him from creating a rhyme through out the first quarter. But in the second half Duke put the ball into there freshmen point guard Tyus Jones as he came to life making shot after shot for the blue devils. In the end duke won 63-68 for Dukes 5th national title all under Mike Krzyzewski.

Other than the Duke-Michigan St. game, these Final Four games were the best I’ve seen in a while. The Wisconsin-Kentucky game had me on the edge of my seat the entire game, and it was great to see Wisconsin pull off the upset. I was hoping Wisconsin would continue their momentum and knock off Duke, but at least the championship game was also very exciting. I wonder if the outcome of the game would’ve been altered had the refs not blown a couple of calls in favor of Duke towards the end, but Duke was a great team this year and deserved the championship.

Wisconsin pulling off the upset of Kentucky and the National Championship game were two of the most fun games I have watched in a while. People have been saying that NCAA Basketball is in a decline in terms of skill and fundamentals but if they watched the championship game they would know it clearly is not.
