UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State men’s rugby announced its recruiting weekend will take place October 16-17. Interested players are invited to attend the event, which will culminate in Penn State taking on Delaware.

The two-day event gives athletes an opportunity to have a guided tour of campus, including all rugby facilities, learn about academic opportunities, meet with coaching staff, and experience college classes.

With over 53 years of history, the Penn State Men’s Rugby team competes at the highest level of collegiate rugby in the United States. Having over 39 playoff appearances, the program has produced 26 All-Americans and 11 US Eagles, including current US scrumhalf, Mike Petri.

As a place of higher education, the Pennsylvania State University offers over 160 majors, including over 240 dual-degree options. A tier-one research institution, Penn State is ranked as one of the best public universities in the world.

With a student-professor ratio of 17:1, the University and its experience is highly student-centered.

To gain a better understanding of the academic experience, recruits will have the opportunity to attend classes on Friday.

On the rugby side of Penn State, the men’s team welcomes first-year head coach and former US National Team member, Blake Burdette.

“I am happy to be a part of this program. As a player and coach who competed against Penn State, I have always held this program in high regard for the caliber of student-athletes it produces,” said Burdette. “To take the helm of this team and help shape the future of these kids is both very exciting and an honor.”

Prior to Saturday’s 3 PM kickoff, prospective student-athletes will meet with coach Burdette, Director of Rugby, Chris Amoratis, and other coaching staff to discuss the program and admissions procedures. A tour of campus will follow the discussion.
