2018 Fall Writing Workshop

Strategic Goal-Setting, Accountability, and Time Management for Academic Writing

12:00- 1:30PM on Friday, October 26th

Location TBD

(Lunch provided!)

Registration is closed.

The ability to write quickly and efficiently is an essential competency in engineering and science fields; however, most students are not introduced to disciplinary expectations for writing in their undergraduate or graduate curriculums. Though writing is difficult (for everyone!) in and of itself, there are associated competencies with self-discipline and time management that can “make or break” your success as a researcher, and as an academic writer. This interactive workshop will present models for goal-setting, accountability, and time management that can be applied to academic writing specifically, and to research and academic pursuits more generally. In this workshop, participants will reflect on your own particular cognitive strategies in order to develop finite strategies to improve in these areas. Participants will expect to come away with concrete strategies they will be able to immediately apply in their daily lives.
