TeleSANE – Adult and Adolescent

The Pennsylvania State University Sexual Assault Forensic Examination and Training (SAFE-T) Center through the College of Nursing is seeking to expand their highly qualified, elite, PCCD TeleSANE, telehealth team.

This team is comprised of experts in adult/adolescent sexual assault care who have dedicated their careers to advancing the field of forensic nursing. They are committed to sharing knowledge and clinical skills by providing real-time mentorship and expert consultation for rural SANE trained nurses across Pennsylvania.

This team continually strives to provide excellence in telehealth through rigorous, quality assurance and training activities. There is an intense commitment in the advancement of the SAFE-T Center’s mission and goals.

PCCD TeleSANE Expert Consultant Requirements: Provide expert forensic nursing consultation during real-time, acute sexual assault examinations (via telehealth); Attend virtual, monthly scheduled team meetings; Provide a minimum of 48 hours of night call per month, as well as rotating weekend coverage; Participate in up to 3 in person trainings in State College, PA (annually); Individualized virtual training sessions as needed for quality assurance and growth; Access to high-speed internet and a confidential, quiet place within home/office to conduct the virtual consultation remotely (equipment necessary to complete the consultation will be provided to the TeleSANE Expert Consultant by the SAFE-T Center). Applicant Requirements: Hold, or be willing to obtain, an active, unrestricted Pennsylvania RN license (non-reimbursable); SANE-A certification through the International Association of Forensic Nursing; Show evidence of multiple years of robust, clinical preceptorship experience.

TeleSANE – Pediatric

Are you an International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in Pediatrics (SANE-P)? Do you enjoy mentoring others? If so, the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Training (SAFE-T) Center at The Pennsylvania State University needs you! The SAFE-T Center is growing their elite team of highly trained forensic nurses (TeleSANEs) to include SANEs who specialize in the pediatric population.

The SAFE-T Center TeleSANE team is comprised of experienced, IAFN-certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners who have dedicated their careers to advancing the field of forensic nursing. These TeleSANEs are making a difference for victims of crime by providing real-time mentorship and live quality assurance to lesser-experienced SANEs in rural and underserved communities.

This team continually strives to provide excellence in telehealth through rigorous, quality assurance and training activities. There is an intense commitment in the advancement of the SAFE-T Center’s mission to enhance care for victims of sexual assault in underserved communities as well as a desire to nurture the growth of future SANEs.

As a SAFE-T Center TeleSANE, you will be paid to take call and conduct telehealth consultations securely from your home through special equipment provided to you by the SAFE-T Center. This position is an ideal second job for many SANEs, but due to the level of training invested in you as a TeleSANE, the SAFE-T Center asks for a two-year commitment to the position.

Pediatric TeleSANE Expert Consultant Expectations: Provide expert forensic nursing consultation during real-time sexual assault examinations via telehealth. Give at least 72 hours of paid on-call time per month. TeleSANEs are expected to sign up for a combination of days, nights, weekends each month to fill schedule. New hires will be asked to attend an initial virtual training and onboarding, followed by successful completion of individualized virtual trainings and practice telehealth consultations. This is approximately 30 hours of paid training prior to serving on call. TeleSANEs are expected to attend and contribute to regularly scheduled monthly Zoom meetings and trainings. TeleSANEs must maintain their IAFN certification.  Access to high-speed internet and a confidential, quiet place within home/office to conduct the virtual consultation remotely is required. When in-person gatherings are permitted, the SAFE-T Center will occasionally host TeleSANE meetings and trainings in State College, PA. SAFE-T Center will provide travel reimbursement.  

Applicant Requirements: Hold, or be willing to obtain, an active, unrestricted Pennsylvania RN license (non-reimbursable, can be obtained upon hire); Complete required background checks; Show active SANE-P certification through the International Association of Forensic Nursing; and Show evidence of multiple years of robust, clinical experience in pediatric sexual assault forensic examinations.
