This course, Spanish 2, is part of the Spanish Basic Language Program at Penn State. It is a hybrid course: there is online instruction and two in-class sessions a week. English will not be used in class so that the two hours a week are fully utilized! The purpose of this course is to develop and improve communication skills by listening, reading, speaking, and writing– all in Spanish!

We use an information-based communicative approach to second language learning. This basically means that second language acquisition occurs most effectively when the new vocabulary and grammar is made personally relevant, so students will be sharing their interests and ideas with other students in class time. We also explore the cultures of the Spanish speaking world as language and culture go hand in hand.
