Becoming an Anthopologist in our own Lives – Keeping a course blog

This semester, we are pairing the college reading course that I’m teaching with Intro to Anthropology taught by Dr. Rauthild Orleth-Diener – students are enrolled in both courses. I try to tailor the reading strategies we learn to what works in the ANTH course… Yesterday, I attendedĀ  ANTH class to hear Dr. Diener talk about her research as a cultural anthropologist in the Philippines. So many connections happened for me like encouraging students to make the content relevant for themselves – like becoming an anthropologist in their own lives- the role of gen-eds: how do anthropologists approach the world and how they understand it?

I wrote more at our course blog where I’ll be charting my own lessons learned during the course. I hope to be modeling lifelong learning practices – things that also keep learning and the joy of teaching alive!! Reflection and meaning-making are key!
