Initial Blog Post!

Greetings, my name is Cas and I was born and raised right here in State College! I

“Photography is one of my favorite hobbies! Here’s a photo I took this past spring!”

I’m enrolled in this course as a way to fulfill my general education requirements. My adviser suggested this class to me because it was a science course for non science majors. It seemed like the best and most enjoyable option, so I signed up for SC 200. As for why I am not planning to become a Science major, this is due to the fact that I have never been particularly good at the subject. I’ve always seen science as a subject you need to be really smart to excel in, and I’ve had very limited experience with science courses. I was home schooled for many years in middle school, and we didn’t cover much conventional science. In addition, the science courses and requirements in the high school I attended were very loose, so I did not get much exposure to the subject. So for a summary, it would probably be because I don’t have much interest in science, and I don’t find myself smart enough to do well in it anyways.

Here is a video of an experiment we were shown in my Psychology class that studies inequality between monkeys. It’s short, pretty funny, and definitely worth watching so check it out!

First Post!~

My name is Kelli Ross. I’m from Philadelphia and I’m a freshman here at Penn State. I’m currently deciding upon what it is I want to study. I have some small idea of what I want to major in and I can assure you that it isn’t anything to do with science. Honestly, I’m just taking this class because the advisor told me I needed this credit and it was generally liked by most students. It wasn’t so much the study of any particular sciences either. Rather, it was more along the lines of learning why we study science. (Mostly though, it was because the Ag Sc building is really close to the creamery, but don’t tell Andrew I said that).

Like most students, I can’t say I had most efficient experience with any sciences in high school. Also, I’m kinda squeamish, often times impatient and I can’t say I’m the best at math. THIS especially is a great example of why I could never… Conclusion being, most sciences wouldn’t fit my character at all. I tried to do my best in the classes I had because I knew they were important for the time being, but they were never a real interest of mine. Some of it is actually pretty cool though, It’s just not for me.

I always thought periodic table jokes were super funny though!

I’m actually looking forward to this course and what it has to offer.

First Blog Post Woop Woop

Hello! My name is Katelyn Estelow. I am a freshman hoping to eventually major in Advertising.

1. I am taking this course because I need a science credit to cover my gen. eds. for my major. Out of all the options my advisor gave me, this one seemed to be the most interesting.

2. I am not planning to be a science major because I have never had a passion for the subject and you should probably aim to get a job in a field you are passionate about… or one that pays a lot (just kidding). There are some parts of science that I find very interesting. However, a majority of science is very uncertain and I have a hard time wrapping my head around the ideas because they are not definitive.

Have a great day 🙂
