Snapshots of Strength
Providing pediatric cancer patients and their families with professional quality photographs.
Snapshots of Strength provides families struggling against pediatric cancers with professional quality images that celebrate their children’s resilience and strength. Snapshots of Strength is a partnership between Dan Shapiro, Ph.D. (Vice Dean for Faculty and Administrative Affairs), Richard Hammer, M.D. (A Pediatrician), and the Four Diamonds Fund at the Hershey Medical Center Children’s Hospital.
In addition to providing families with quality images, the photos have also been used to remind the newly diagnosed that they are not alone. Many of the participants have given permission for the images to be used in the new Children’s Hospital, at the Penn State Dance marathon (THON), and in other venues. The Snapshots of Strength team also seeks to display images in public locations throughout the Children’s Hospital to remind hardworking front-line staff and medical professionals why they do this challenging work.
Photography sessions are held at The Penn State Hershey Medical Center and at Penn State’s annual dance marathon, also known as THON.
