My favorite pairs

For any of you that have read my previous blog posts, you’ll know that I’m an avid collector of socks. I have many different pairs from many different brands. Some socks are more interesting than others such as the Stance socks with the NBA players or my Superman socks with capes on them. Some socks were more expensive, costing around $16, while others were found for as low as $1. I’ve bought many pairs from many different stores and I’ve also gotten many pairs as gifts. I’ve collected probably at least 60 pairs…but which ones are my favorites? Well it’s not like I’ve ranked them really since I like all the pairs that I have. Also, just because a pair is one of my favorites that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the most interesting. For now I’d like to talk about just a few of my favorite pairs of socks.

These are my “Batmoose” socks. I bought them during a trip to Quebec. I can’t remember exactly how much they’d cost considering I purchased them with Canadian money but I believe they were around $8-$10. These are one of my favorites because for one they were bought in a foreign country which I think makes them a little more interesting. Also they’re very unique. I mean how many times will you ever see Batmoose socks again? Most likely never. Also I think it’s funny to explain the socks to people who ask what they are.

These are another one of my favorites pairs. A huge reason these are one of my favorites is because they were the first pair of socks that my girlfriend had bought for me. That makes them really special to me and they always make me think of her. She bought them for me when she went to Disney once. Also they’re just really neat. I’ve gotten compliments on them before. The top of the socks where the tentacles are is very detailed and I like that.

These socks are a newer pair of mine but I really like them. I bought them on my Senior class trip to Baltimore in a Target. I was drawn to them instantly. They’re very detailed and I like that. I also really like the two shades of blue. They kind of make the socks stand out. I also really like the old outfit that the golfer is wearing. I’d really love to have this image made in the form of a painting or something.

I’ve had these socks for a little bit now. I actually can’t remember for sure where I go them. The socks have a golf course on them. I wanted to clarify that because a lot of people ask me what’s on them. I’m not quite sure why I like these socks so much but I wear them often. The design is very cartoonish and kind of like that. I also find golf to be a very relaxing thing which might be why I like these socks so much.

Those are just a few of my favorites. I can’t talk about all of them since I really like all of the socks. Hopefully you can expand your sock collection and have some favorites as well.

Where can you get the best socks?

I’ve collected many pairs of socks over the years. I’ve never done an official count by my collection probably exceeds 60 pairs. I have so many that I no longer have any plain white or plain black socks. So where do I get all these socks? How much do I spend on them? What kind of socks do I look for?

Well first of all let me say that a lot of my socks were gifts from my mother, father, and my girlfriend. My father got me many of my first pairs as gifts for certain things like good grades or holidays. Since he knew I liked basketball he got me the Stance socks with basketball players on them. He’s actually gotten me many pairs over the years because he knows how much I like Stance socks. My mother has gotten me a lot of pairs that she finds at various stores when she’s out shopping. My girlfriend and her mother got me several pairs of socks this past Christmas. So that’s where I’ve gotten a large portion of my sock collection.

However I also buy my own pairs from time to time. Like I’ve said before always keep your eye out for pairs of socks. The HUB bookstore has many pairs but they’re sort of tucked away, not exactly right in your face. I’ve found some pairs that are in the clearance section of stores. I got a pair of “Green eggs and bacon” socks for only $2.40 in a Kohl’s in the clearance section. Many stores places cheap socks from small companies in their clearance sections. Just looking in the sock section of stores works pretty well too. It sounds obvious but you don’t always expect sock sections to have socks that are actually interesting. Every store has an aisle for socks somewhere. Some stores are better than others too. I’ve never found Walmart to actually have a good selection of socks. But places like Boscov’s, Kohl’s, and Target are usually good.

There have always been plenty of times that I’ve bought socks at stores that I never go to. I’ve bought several pairs down on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ. On my senior trip to Baltimore I found some really cool pairs in a Target and an Urban Outfitters. In the Urban Outfitters I actually got a really sick pair of Simpsons socks. On a trip to Quebec I stopped in a random store on the street and bought an inexpensive pair of Batmoose socks (A moose dressed as Batman).

I rarely go to Gamestop but I’ve gone with my friends before and surprisingly they actually have some decent socks. If you’re into video games and what not they have stuff related to that but they even have socks that are related to Harry Potter or Marvel Comics characters. I got a cool pair of Venom and Carnage (Marvel Characters) socks from them. I only go to FYE when I go to a mall, which is rare, but they have a pretty good collection of socks too. They’re nerdier socks but I got Pikachu socks there that I kinda like. You can really find socks at almost any store, you just have to look.

To some that all up I really don’t have one place that I get my socks from. I like to get my socks from everywhere and I think that makes my collection more interesting.
