Leggings: My Biggest Pet Peeve.

So, I don’t know if you’ve noticed by the title at all….but one of the things that trouble me most when it comes to fashion, is when girls wear leggings as PANTS.

Here’s my analogy: this picture = that picture…

There are many ways to “rock” the leggings without the dreaded camel toe or the overly outlined legs and but. Here are some:

I mostly find a lot of girls on campus, or anywhere else wearing leggings like this. It covers up just enough for it to be decent, and it balanced perfectly through colors and coordinating colors such as this mustard cardigan (the pop of color in this outfit) and the hearts on the knee area add a fun, interesting quality to a typical legging.

Okay, this is one of my favorites. It’s a completely new perspective on wearing leggings in general. Printed leggings are a comfy way to express our “artsy”, “hipster” or even “retro” side in to the fashion world. Make sure to neutralize the prints by keeping everything else simple. This girl for example, finished her outfit off with black boots (black patterns on leggings) and a light, tan colored coat.

Finally, we have the whole pantyhose style. Not necessarily leggings, but this is also widely used on not-so-cold-days. Here, our model wears her pantyhose with a brown sweater, emerald green skirt, dark-greenish boots, emerald purse to compliments her skirt and her hat (added for that “hipster” vibe). They main key in fashion is always be effortless. In wearing such things as leggings, showing off certain areas don’t make your body more appealing, but attract unwanted attention.

So kids, the moral of our story today is, make key pieces work FOR you not AGAINST you!

Homecoming 2012!

I remember senior year of high school dreaming of appearing with the prettiest make up, the best dress, and amazing shoes. My friends and I used to plan how we were going to do everything, take pictures, and spend the night. Homecoming, whether it’s college or high school, is supposed to be a fun time. Unfortunately, Penn State (or most universities anyway) aren’t too big on dances anymore (unless you count those parties) so I thought I’d revisit one my favorite parts of my high school career last weekend.

My sister was kind off mad at me for missing this year’s homecoming because she had to come over for Parent’s and Families weekend (9/28 – 9/30) but I noticed my other high school friends showcased some very pretty styles! Let’s take a look at 3 different pictures:

I know they’re “youngins”, but one of my favorite things I like when one dresses up for an event is classiness. Most girls tend to make the mistake that “less is best and more is a bore”. Taking at look at one of these ladies dresses, Heather (1st picture, 3rd from the left) shows off her sophisticated black and white dress by adding a pop of color with her red heels. The “I want to draw attention appeal” is there, but without the “trashiness”.

One of the major keys to fashion is sophistication. It’s an appeal that is uncommon by most women and good accessorizing with an appropriate looking dress appeals to anybody. Remember ladies, “less is more!”
