COMMITTEES

Penn State is implementing its strategic plan over the next several years, with committees working to support the varying goals and unique needs of the University’s many constituencies. The layered structure shows how the committees’ work integrates the plan’s thematic priorities and foundations throughout the implementation process.

Reporting to Interim Executive Vice President and Provost Justin Schwartz, the Oversight Committee is leading implementation efforts throughout Penn State, synthesizing the work of other committees, identifying opportunities for collaboration, and assisting in decisions about priorities and resources. The Oversight Committee is responsible for progress updates to the President, Board of Trustees, and other leaders.

Based on the strategic plan’s five thematic priorities and the supporting elements, the Executive Committees report to the Oversight Committee. These six committees advocate for their respective topical areas as they review and support goals and initiatives identified by their corresponding Steering Committees.

Directly aligned with their corresponding eight Executive Committees, the six Steering Committees are identifying opportunities and goals and formulating action plans and metrics for their areas. These committees also are hosting public forums to report on the strategic plan’s progress and to engage faculty, staff, students, and alumni in the plan implementation process.

Because the foundations are integral to all components of the strategic plan, they do not have a separate committee structure. Instead, they are incorporated into the work of all the committees.
