Established in 2010 and chartered as the first Sustainability Council of the Commonwealth Campuses in 2013:
We are a diverse group of faculty, staff, administrators and students whose objectives include:
- The creation and coordination of activities and events to advance sustainability.
- The investigation of best practices to enhance campus sustainability.
- The creation of a campus environment compatible with the College’s education mission.
We do make recommendations directly to our Chancellor regarding sustainable development, coordination, and goal-setting at Penn State Altoona.
We provide internships, service opportunities, and a range of workshops open to faculty, staff, students and the community.
We support sustainable infrastructure projects such as the educational and communal space at the Seminar Forest, increased recycling efforts and sustainable stream management projects.
We work with community partners such as the Intermunicipal Relations Commission and the Blair County Conservation District.
