2017 Fall Involvement Fair

Establishing a new student club on campus means we have to start by getting the word out and by getting students to sign up. Sustainovation Team member Breath Hand staffed a table at the Fall Involvement Fair on August 31st to talk about our new student club and what we mean by “sustainovation”.

To give an example of sustainovation, Breath handed out samples of Gilchrist & Soames BeeKind shampoo. The BeeKind line of products contain no parabens, phthalates, or artificial ingredients. They do contain food-grade, naturally derived USP glycerin; natural conditioning agents from honey and the Brassica plant; and are free of any artificial colors or dyes.

Along with the recyclable packaging, the company is supporting honey bee and sustainable pollination research at the Univ. of California at Davis Entomology Department by donating a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the BeeKind Collection to the University’s Honey Bee Research Program.

Our free samples were a hit with the students. We had 43 students express interest and sign up for the new club! We look forward to this exciting new addition to student clubs and activities on campus.
