Three-Minute Reads on Sustainability

With our partner the Pennsylvania Earth Science Teachers Association (PAESTA), the students enrolled in EARTH 100 (Environment Earth) are authoring three sets of stories relating to sustainability that teachers can use the middle school and high school classroom. Penn State Brandywine students have completed their second round of short stories on sustainability, with each story at a length of 900 words (a three-minute read).

The stories have been uploaded to the PAESTA online collection of teaching resources, the PAESTA Classroom: http://www.paesta.org/classroom/three-minute-reads-sustainability

The topics of the stories range from solar energy to hurricanes to forests, and from acid rain to ocean pollution to wax worms. Each story has been matched with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Teachers may download the stories to share with students and are freely available to educators beyond the PAESTA membership.

This collection of three-minute sustainability reads in fall 2017 supports the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: #1, #2, #3, #4, #6, #7, #8, #9, #11, #12, #13, #14, #15, #16, #17.
