Thoughts on Tuesday’s speeches

Although I don’t present my speech until next week, I’ve had the pleasure of observing the presentations of others. Everyone who went on Tuesday did such a great job and really captured the attention of the audience. The reason for this is probably due to the interesting topics presented and the methods certain people used to engage the audience, like asking questions. I’m happy that I was able to see things that I would like to add to my speech in order to make it as good as the ones I saw on Tuesday.

  1. I have to agree that many of the presentations today were very well prepared. I really enjoyed the fact that many of the speeches felt very personal and the fact that many of the people had personal stories related with their speech and you could tell that many of them were speaking from the heart. I felt intimidated by many of the people here because they all seemed extremely confident with what they had to say. I wrote the same thing on Roshan’s post, but I feel a lot more confident when I manage to spark a connection with my audience be it a random chuckle or a nod of approval. It isn’t fun when the speeches are impersonal and seem formulaic. Personally my advice would be to do something that incites laughter and the rest of the presentation will be easy.
Good luck with your speech on Tuesday!!
