Philosophy of Teaching

Philosophy of Teaching (ucat.osu.edu/read/teaching-portfolio/philosophy)

As a teacher your philosophy should not be writing down definitions for your students. Teaching students to memorize definitions is not the way to teach student, for students will easily for get definitions. As a teacher my philosophy should be teaching the concepts to my students, for if my students learn the concepts in reading, writing and mathematics then they will not forget the material easily. However, If the students forget they can always remember the concept when do math, reading and writing.

Although teaching the concept to the core subjects might be difficult for students. I’ll try my best to teach the concepts, and I will tell my students to stop me anytime they don’t understand. However, it is difficult to tell a teacher you don’t understand due to the fear of being judge by me or the other students. As a teacher I will have to show the students that I’m genuinely nice, and I’m not fake so the kids will feel comfortable talking to me.

Teaching philosophies also must include how I carry myself, for I should always look presentable to look like I care about my job. Because I need to look like a teacher who wants to teach, and not like someone who would care less about how they look. Not caring how I look makes me look unapproachable, and if a student needs help they will look at me and say that guy doesn’t look approachable. Which means I fail in one aspect of being a teacher, and I fail one of my students who wanted to learn.
