Penn State THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the entire world. Every single year, students from all Penn State campuses gather at University Park and dance for 46 hours to help raise money for childhood cancer.
This is one of Penn State’s most admirable and inspiring activities in which current students and alumni participate. In the 2018 Penn State THON, $10,151,663.93 was raised and donated to the research for ending childhood cancer.
One of the most amazing parts about the Penn State University family is that, no matter what Penn State campus you attend, everyone is a part of the family. With an activity such as THON, students from every campus join together and dance the night away, raising money for those children battling cancer.
Penn State Abington hosted a fun activity during Common Break on Oct. 31, where students could throw a pie at a volunteer’s face to raise money for THON. The “pie in the face” activity was held in the front yard of Sutherland, with music playing and volunteers urging students to join in on the fun.
Not only did students join in on the game but faculty and staff also participated, having a good laugh. It was an entertaining way to bring the Penn State Abington community together, to have a good time and raise some money for a good cause.
