The End

To be entirely honest, I’ve already blogged on my favorite Disney movies.  I’m not trying to say that I don’t like the other Disney movies — I love them.  They just aren’t quite as high quality as the ones that I’ve blogged about.

So, instead of blogging about a movie I don’t like nearly as much as the others, I would rather talk about the ones I’ve watched over this semester.  With that being said, I’m going to rank the top ones I’ve watched this semester.

Number 1: Aladdin will never be topped by another Disney movie — at least in my opinion.  I wouldn’t even necessarily say that it has the best characters, or the best music, or even the best plot line, there’s just something about Aladdin that makes it my all time favorite.  Maybe I it’s just how everything comes together to make the movie that it is.  Maybe it’s because that’s the movie I watched the most when I was growing up, at least as far as Disney movies, so that’s why I hold it most dear.  And maybe, just maybe, I’m wrong.  Still, it’ll always be my personal favorite.

Number 2: Coming in a close second is The Lion King.  Again, this is another movie that I watched all the time when I was younger, so I could be a bit biased.  Still, I’ve met so many people that have told me that their favorite Disney movie is The Lion King, so I feel that I shouldn’t have too many objections to this movie being on the list.  The movie is near perfect.  From its opening scene, the viewer is exposed to great music and a plot line that is similar to many, but in the form of animals.  Who doesn’t love a good animal movie?

Number 3:  I’m going to throw a curveball for this one and go with UP.  UP is one of those movies I can only describe as cute.  It has Russel, an adorable, chubby boy scout that is devoted, kind, and funny, though often unintentionally.  There’s Kevin, the snipe, who adds some comic relief in the movie.  There’s Doug, an interesting character to say the least.  And, of course, there’s Mr. Frederickson — a grumpy old man that is brought back to the kindness of youth through Russel.

There were definitely a few I wanted to include on this list such as Mulan and The Little Mermaid, but this is my final list.  Feel free to object.

For us at least, I think favorite Disney movies are based on the ones we care the most about personally and have the best memories of. I really like Hercules and Atlantis myself, but I think that’s just because I watched them a lot when I was younger. I think there are a lot of quality movies, and the ones you listed were all great and I’d love to watch them all again.

I would have to agree with you, Aladdin is by far one of the best Disney movies, and I’m not saying that just because is my favorite princess or Disney movie. I really liked how you explain the movies and why some of the stories when you where watching them. I love Disney movies specially cartoons, Nemo I could say that is my second favorite Disney movie. Also the names you used for the movies in your blogs are so creative and I really likes them.

Up is definitely not a curveball. It has all the elements of an oscar winning film, the drama the suspense, the humor, the heart! You would have to be lying if you said that you never teared up during the “married life” segment. I think it would be interesting if you blogged about the cringeworthy disney movies as well though. Especially those released in the mid 1980s before the so- called “Disney Renaissance”.

  4. If I have to argue, I think Mulan should have made the list. First off, Mulan is probably one of the bravest and kick-ass women in all of Disney. She does what she wants, and she does it well. Mushu is also a pretty cool character, and has some fantastic one-liners. Am I biased with Mulan? 100%. It was always a personal favorite. However, I still think it was a fantastic movie. Otherwise, I think your list is good, especially because there aren’t many “ehh” Disney movies.

I 100% agree with your choice of Lion King. It has goofiness, evil hyenas, GREAT MUSIC, and you’re right, who doesn’t love a movie about animals? Mufasa’s voice is so majestic and powerful, that you just can’t deny that he is the King. A coming of age movie is always inspiring, and leads people to reach for their dreams. (that sounded cheesy but its TRUE!)
Funny story. I was playing this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhMUvhIAPtY in the car, and I asked my mom to guess who wrote it. She goes…. “Rachmaninoff.” A CLASSICAL RUSSIAN COMPOSER FROM THE ROMANTIC MUSCIAL TIME PERIOD. Man, Hans Zimmer knows how to do it. Am I right.
