What is this all about?

Why make an entire blog dedicated to only female artists?

Though just as skilled as their male counterparts, many historical women in the arts received far less recognition, if any, because of their gender. I want to create a space that acknowledges and celebrates the works of such artists while providing insight into the conditions of that period in time. These posts will recount various women painters and their pieces in chronological order and discuss what the artistic scene was like at that point.

As a young woman who has always loved making and observing art, I can really appreciate learning about these extraordinary women and am excited to convey their stories to others. I hope you enjoy reading along!
