Last weekend, my friends and I went out for bubble tea at a cozy little teashop called Tea Time hidden in McAllister Alley. Bubble tea is a drink that originates from Taiwan and is typically made of tea that is steeped, chilled and served with tapioca pearls and can come in a variety of flavors.
Tea Time has a very vast menu featuring an enticing assortment of bubble tea including milk teas, Calpis teas, and tea made with fresh fruits as well as having the option of adding different flavored cubes of jelly, bean paste, or just extra tapioca pearls. All of these teas are (obviously) vegetarian-friendly, while only the fruit teas (without additional jelly) are vegan options. Tea Time also has reduced sugar options based on the customer’s preference.
I ordered the Lavender Milk Tea with tapioca pearls and the full amount of sugar normally added to the teas. Overall, the tea was delightful; it was like sweet milky chocolately, floraly goodness with surprise little tapioca pearls that would sneak their way into my straw. I never realized how well bitter chocolate goes with the light aroma of lavender, and overall I was pleasantly surprised.
