The X-FILEs project addresses the following question:
“What are the near-term and longer-term impacts, opportunities, challenges, and future research initiatives related to the development and implementation of innovative learning environments (ILEs) in higher education STEM disciplines?”
Our current project revolves around how to best handle various educational challenges stemming from COVID-19 by the use of ILEs.
We successfully hosted our first X-FILEs Workshop on November 11-13, 2018 in Melbourne, Florida.
We just published our Springer book (entitled “Innovative Learning Environments in STEM Higher Education: Opportunities, Challenges, and Looking Forward), which reflects the likely impact of existing and emerging technologies and pedagogies on STEM higher education. Specifically, the publication describes the student and teacher experience across broad aspects of the teaching and learning process for STEM education in 2026.
We also organized a more student-centered event called X-FILEs Jam on February 8, 2020 at Florida Tech. Please check out our X-FILEs Jam website at https://sites.psu.edu/filejam/ for more details.
Thank you for your interest in the X-FILEs project. Please contact us if you have any questions!
