I am a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at The Pennsylvania State University. My teaching and research interests lie in the field of American politics where my primary focus is on state governments, legislatures, elections, and parties. I have broad research interests, but much of my work examines the nexus of institutional design and political behavior. My ongoing research projects include an examination of the career decisions made by state legislators, the changing nature of politics in the American South, and how legislatures interact with other branches of state government. I also am interested in teaching with technology and have ongoing research projects assessing the efficacy of these tools. I earned my undergraduate degree from Baker University in 2005 and my doctorate from the University of Mississippi in December 2009.
