Penn State’s Carbon Emissions Conference: Overview

#PSUGet2Zero

When:
Friday, April 11, 2014

Where:
Pasquerilla Spiritual Center

Why:
Penn State has an obligation toward our students and our community to model ethical leadership in a warming world. This conference brought together Penn State community members already committed to responding to the threat of climate change. Our goal is to begin imagining a workable plan to achieve zero effective emissions by 2050, providing a model for universities and large corporations across the country and an inspiration for local and regional governments.

TREE

The heart of the event was a series of eight workshops, focusing on specific parts of the overall challenge ahead of us. These workshops were set up as moderated conversations to begin exploring the issues and to identify roadblocks or missing information needed to realize our goals. We see this conference as a first step in a year-long process to establish a road map for the University to follow.

Co-sponsors:
Sustainability Institute; Rock Ethics Institute; Center for Ethics and Religious Affairs

  1. Thank you for your interest, but this preliminary event is invitation only. If all goes well, we will have a more public event in the future. The success of the project absolutely depends on broad support within the University and beyond, so please keep in touch.

  2. Dear Sir/Madam,
This looks like an interesting conference. Can you please let me know how I and my husband can attend?
    Thanks, Smita Bharti.
