As an active participant of the Colloid and Surface Science Symposium (CSSS), an important issue for you to consider concerns COLL Division membership.
The number of papers presented in the COLL Division has been significant over the years (between 650 and 800 at each ACS national meeting), accounting for almost 6 to 7% of the entire ACS National Meeting program. Each year, between the two ACS National Meetings and our Division’s unique summer CSSS, COLL technical symposia host nearly 2000 presenters, many of them regular participants in the COLL programming.
However, most participants in the COLL technical program activities are not Division members. This is because most are either unaware of the existence of the Division membership structure within ACS or overlook the opportunity to formally sign up for the Division membership while signing up for/renewing ACS membership.
We want to rectify the situation without delay to promote the growth of the COLL Division so that the Division can continue to serve the community in many ways.
Everyone presenting at the 95th CSSS will be awarded a complementary Division membership for one year. In future years, you can add the COLL Division membership while renewing your ACS membership. The Division membership fee is $5 for students and $15 for all others.
