In July 2012, College Recruiter.com reported that a vast majority of employers use social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to screen and recruit new employees.
Most notably, the article reports that “LinkedIn remains the dominant recruiting network, used by 93 percent of respondents. LinkedIn was used by 87 percent of respondents in 2011 and 78 percent in 2010.”
Questions to ask yourself walk the road toward employment :
- Do you have a LinkedIn account? Is it as persuasive and rich as your resume?
- What do you find when you Google yourself? Do you regularly monitor your online presence?
- Have you carefully proofread your online material? (“Grammar or spelling mistakes on social profiles saw a 54 percent negative reaction.”)
