Netiquette

With today’s quick access to all things digital, its important to remember that your online presence can quite easily become a record of the things you do and say on a daily basis.  You should pause and consider whether or not your posts are appropriate for the context.  For example, while this course blog is your space to exchange thoughts and ideas about nutrition, its not a good place to share details about what you did over the weekend.

To help further guide you toward a successful blogging experience this semester, the following points should be remembered when engaging in your assigned blogging activities:

  • Select your words carefully as this blog becomes a record of your conduct in this class.
  • Be respectful of others.  It’s ok not to have the same opinions and views as others, but you should still be respectful of other’s perspectives.  In short – treat others the way you want to be treated.
  • Be aware of any restrictions or copyrights of work or imagery you choose to post to this blog.  If it was created by someone else, be sure to give the appropriate citations.
  • Spell check comments and replies before submitting them.
  • Please refrain from using emoticons or other text abbreviations in this blog.  This is a location for academic discourse.  🙂 will not be a considered a valid expression of your opinions.
  • Refrain from using all Capital letters in your posts, it gives the impression you’re SHOUTING.  Bold, Italics, and underline are great ways to draw attention to points you would like to emphasize when used appropriately.

If you have any questions please post a comment to this page, as others may have the same questions that you do.
