About the Club

The 3D Printing Club was started in spring of 2013 by several students who had taken the open source 3D printing class at Penn State and loved it. The club was a means of providing further access to 3D printing technology including and beyond what was covered in the class.

As part of the club, we try to be involved with every kind of 3D printing we can, which could potentially span printing in plastics, resins, wood, metals, or even foods, although we primarily focus on the hobby level plastic filament models. In addition to using the 3D printers we also focus on building our own 3D printers, primarily RepRaps. The printers are surprisingly easy to learn to use and build yourself and are lots of fun.

Since we are a social club, we also try to do lots of fun activities that deal with 3D printing. Like our 12 hour print-a-thon, where we all gather for a day to print stuff, and watch movies, play video games, and eat food. Join our mailing list to stay up to date with club events.

The 3D Printing Club also offers  printing, CAD modeling, and consulting service to students whom would like to include additive manufacturing into their projects or daily lives. If you would like to take advantage of our services, please send us an e-mail on the contact page.
