1967: Cleo McCoy Welcomes Students at Orientation
Ms. Cleo McCoy, resident hostess, welcomes students Marilyn Bottock and Nancy Melia back to school at Capitol Campus on September 17, 1967. In its second year, Capitol Campus housed 49 female students in the old Bachelor Officers’ Quarters (BOQ), which was a female-only residence hall and apartments for faculty. Later the college renamed the BOQ the University Apartments, but today it is the Educational Activities Building (EAB).
Prior to working at Capitol Campus, McCoy was a chemical technician for three years, a medical secretary for 12, and a resident hostess at University Park. After working at Capitol Campus for two years, she became the resident hostess at Beaver Campus.
