1998: Oliver LaGrone Cultural Arts Center

LaGrone MuralPainted by nationally-known Harrisburg muralist, Toni Truesdale, the mural is a chronological history of notable African-American figures such as Muhammad Ali, Louis Armstrong, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The mural was completed in summer 1980. In September 1998, the name of the Black Cultural Arts Center was changed to the Oliver LaGrone Cultural Arts Center in honor of Professor LaGrone who died in 1995.
