2015: Dr. Cigler

2015 Dr. Beverly Cigler Named Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and Administration

Dr. Beverly Cigler earned the title of Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and Administration in 2015. She is the third Penn State scholar to earn this title and the first female scholar to earn it.

The “distinguished” title recognizes a highly-select group of faculty with outstanding achievements in teaching, research, and service. To earn this title, professors must uphold the following criteria:

  • Acknowledged leaders in their fields of research or creative activity
  • Demonstrated significant leadership in raising the university standards with respect to teaching, research or creative activity and service
  • Demonstrated excellent teaching skills and contributed significantly to the education of students who subsequently have achieved recognition of excellence in their fields

Dr. Cigler began working at Penn State Harrisburg in 1988 and was excited to teach public policy in her home state because of the complexities of the PA state government.
