Welcome to 50 Years of Photos @ Penn State Harrisburg!

This project, “50 Years of Photos @ Penn State Harrisburg,” is part of a year-long celebration to mark the college’s 50th and golden anniversary (1966-2016).   Here you will find images that document the early years of the Capitol Campus, when it was transforming from the former Olmsted Air Force Base in the late 1960s to the vibrant college community that it is today.

Posts on the blog are divided into different photos series and will highlight the people, places, events,  activities, and traditions that have made our college community one-of-a-kind in the South Central Pennsylvania region.  Our first photo series, 50 Years of Women @ Penn State Harrisburg, focuses on women and women’s issues at the college.  A new post will be published every week for 50 weeks.  Stay tuned for more photo series that document the Harrisburg Rock Festival in the 1970s and the art and architecture on campus.

Please browse the images and send us feedback if you are pictured in one of the photographs.  All of the images on our site are part of the Penn State Harrisburg Library’s College History Archives and are housed in Archives and Special Collections.

We look forward to hearing from you!
