Phineas and Ferb

Welcome back to another edition of “Bring the old Disney back.”  The sixth entry of this series will follow the iconic animated series of” Phineas and Ferb” starring Ashley Tisdale as Candace, Thomas Brodie as Ferb, and Vincent Martella as Phineas. Phineas and Ferb is an animated comedy about two stepbrothers who find inventive things to do on each day of their summer vacation, such as building a roller coaster out of materials you would find in your everyday home like Popsicle sticks, indoor plumbing, et cetera. Phineas’ character is ridiculously smart and full of energy; Ferb is equally as smart, although he’s a little bit quieter. Oh, and Perry is a secret agent for an international organization of animal super spies, but that’s neither here nor there.

The series made its debut on Disney Channel on August 17, 2007, and has since gone on to be one of the channel’s most popular series, attracting more than 289m viewers worldwide since that first broadcast. This comedy produced 129 episodes and has 4 successful seasons. When Phineas and Ferb officially debuted in February the next year, it proved cable’s number-one watched animated series premiere by “tweens.” Throughout the quarter that followed, it peaked as the top-rated animated series for ages 6–10 and 9–14, also becoming the number-three animated series on cable television for viewers aged 6–10. During its time, the show numerous Kid’s choice awards and received numerous Emmy nominations

The program follows Phineas and his stepbrother Ferb, who are between eight and ten years old, during summer vacation. Every day, the boys embark on a brand new project, which is usually unrealistic in scale given the protagonists’ ages.  This annoys their controlling older sister Candace, who frequently tries to reveal their shenanigans to her and Phineas’ mother. Candace hates the fact that her brothers can get away with anything. So one episode, she tries to tell their mom about what the boys have been up to. However, their actions are always covered up just in time, often due to Perry fighting an evil scientist named Dr. Doofenshmirtz, whose inventions have a tendency by sheer coincidence to erase all evidence of whatever the boys have built. This not only causes their mother to question Candace’s sanity every time but also neatly ensures the continuity of the series.

Disney: 10 Great Phineas And Ferb Memes That Are Too Funny

Phineas and Ferb were always one of my favorites show to watch, especially when I was bored, I appreciated the fact that each episode came with a new adventure and theme.

Some of the messages/themes that I learned from the show were:

  • Life is short!  -Phineas and Ferb, used their 104 days of summer to experience new adventures, create crazy inventions, and live life to the fullest. You have to find a good way to spend it. No one else is going to do it for you. So be innovative, creative, expand your imagination, and believe that You can do it!
  • Be creative!   -The reason Phineas and Ferb were never bored (unlike their sister) is because of their creativity.
  • Use Your imagination! Phineas and Ferb would always find ways to entertain themselves by using their imagination.
  • Children are much smarter than people give them credit for.

  1. I love this show! My sisters and I used to watch it together all the time. I thought it was so funny and I always felt for Candace, being an older sister myself. I especially love the one episode where they sing gitchee gitchee goo. Great post!

  2. I. Love. This. Show. It’s genuinely one of my favorite shows of all time. I watched and rewatched and rewatched it over and over and over and over again, whenever it was on Netflix or on TV. They can’t really bring it back though, without fundamentally changing it. Which is sad, but the memories will always be there.

  3. I remember enjoying Phineas and Ferb as a kid. My favorite character was the man himself, Dr. Doof. Good post, it brings back memories

  4. I used to watch this show with my sister too. The aglet episode was really funny because neither of us knew that it was a real word. I remember both of us going to our mom and asking if it was an actual word because we were so confused. This was definitely a great addition to add to the collection of posts.

  5. I loved watching this show when I was younger. It wasn’t one of my favorites but if it was on I wouldn’t mind watching it. My favorite character was Perry. Great post! Can’t wait to read your next one!

  6. I loved this show, but the theme song always made me upset: although there should be, there are NOT 104 days of summer vacation. I also love the layout of this blog, especially the bolded lessons at the end. This is a great touch that drives your point home.
