Reggie Aviles
Architecture Instructor
Throughout his tenure at Penn State, Reggie says he has often been asked, “how do you like teaching compared to practice?” The answer is never easy. He misses working in NYC but appreciates the slower pace of central Pennsylvania. His answer to this difficult question is that the challenges of teaching are different from practice, but both are equally rewarding. According to Reggie, having a project built is equivalent to having a former or current student succeed and be recognized for their work. Reggie has been active with and advised student organizations such as NOMAS and Alpha Rho Chi. Being nominated for a Penn State undergraduate teaching award was one of the highlights of the past 15 years, as well as teaching beside his mentor and good friend Loukas Kalisperis.
