Madhuri Desai
Associate Professor of Art History and Asian Studies
Madhuri joined Penn State in 2007 as assistant professor of art history, and she became an associate professor in 2013. In 2019, her monograph “Banaras Reconstructed: Architecture and Sacred Space in a Hindu Holy City” (University of Washington Press, 2017) received the Alice Davis Hitchcock Award from the Society of Architectural Historians. Her favorite memories are of the renovated Borland Building and of time spent there with colleagues.
